The Royal Academy of Management Successfully Concludes Executive Programme in Resilience and Risk Management

The Royal Academy of Management (RAM) recently concluded its Executive Programme in Resilience and Risk Management, a key initiative in RAM’s broader efforts to enhance the culture of crisis preparedness within government organisations. Held under the auspices of His Excellency Abdullah Al Harthy, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Finance, the specially curated programme was designed with the requirements of public sector leaders and the nation in mind as it took an effective leadership perspective on crisis and risk management and emergency preparedness.

The three month, broad-based programme was delivered in collaboration with the Emergency Planning College (EPC), the United Kingdom’s national centre for resilience learning and development, and Takatuf Oman, a subsidiary of the Oman Investment Authority. Throughout the programme, and guided by world-class experts, participants underwent rigorous evaluation stages, intensive practical training, and took part in crises and risk simulation exercises. As a result, the participants honed skills that public sector leaders require to effectively navigate and respond to unforeseen challenges and contribute to creating a culture of preparedness in their organisations.

The immersive and interactive Resilience and Risk Management programme consisted of three modules. The first module focused on Enterprise Risk Management, introducing participants to tools for identifying, assessing, and analysing risks and the development of risk management strategies aligned with international best practices. The second module covered Crisis Management and Emergency Planning, training participants, through the use of crisis simulations and field exercises, how to develop integrated emergency response plans. The third module focused on Business Continuity in the Public Sector, highlighting the importance of institutional resilience during crises, including by ensuring the sustainability of public services and  strengthening organisational adaptability.

“This programme introduced me to best practices in business continuity planning and allowed me to develop and strengthen my ability to assess risks and address them in a flexible and effective manner. I benefited from the interactive lectures and practical exercises delivered by experts in this field, which have enhanced my strategic decision-making capabilities in today’s rapidly evolving work environment,” said Dr Hassan Al Balushi, a participant in RAM’s Executive Programme in Resilience and Risk Management.

Khalsa Al Kasbiya, another participant in the programme, said,  “The Executive Programme in Resilience and Risk Management has been an exceptional learning journey, combining knowledge and practical application in risk management, crisis response, and business continuity. The programme stood out for its rich interaction with a distinguished group of experts, while the Royal Academy of Management team played a key role in creating a stimulating learning environment, which enhanced participants’ preparedness to face challenges with agility and efficiency.”

The Royal Academy of Management continues to contribute to Oman’s
socio-economic development and future by creating an executive education ecosystem of vibrant, thriving, future-ready, and growth-oriented leadership communities that deliver lasting value and impact and by nurturing ever-evolving work environments that promote a culture of efficiency, productivity, and innovation.
