His Excellency Dr. Ali bin Qassim Al Lawati, President of the Royal Academy of Management, was among the distinguished jury members of the 10th edition of the Sharjah Government Communication Award (SGCA), organised by the Sharjah Government Media Bureau (SGMB). His Excellency has been a member of the Sharjah Government Communication Award jury since 2019, playing a vital role in recognising and honoring individuals and organisations that preserve current resources and contribute to raising the standards of communication practices in the UAE, the Arab region, and beyond.
H.H Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of the Sharjah Media Council, presided over the honours ceremony for the winners of the Sharjah Government Communication Award. The ceremony was held on September 14, 2023, at the Expo Centre Sharjah, coinciding with the conclusion of the 12th edition of the International Government Communication Forum, which took place on September 13 and 14 under the theme “Today’s Resources, Tomorrow’s Wealth.”
The Sharjah Government Communication Award has been at the forefront of recognising and rewarding innovative communication practices that keep pace with the rapidly changing world. The award’s latest edition was successful in anticipating future transformations in government communication strategies and practices, and it has expanded its scope from local to regional and international levels, receiving entries from various countries worldwide. The award has been developed to respond to the ongoing transformations in governments and societies. It has recognised the best communication practices and strategies in twelve categories for Arab participants, reflecting its commitment to promoting excellence in communication practices.
During its 10th edition, the Sharjah Government Communication Award jury provided several recommendations aimed at enhancing communication practices. The jury’s most significant recommendations included organising specialised workshops to train communication professionals on the best investment in smart technologies. The jury also recommended the creation of a “Personality of the Year” category, which recognises influential figures in society who have made significant contributions to communication efforts through responsible personal practices. Additionally, the jury recommended excluding the top echelons, such as CEOs and chairmen of the board of directors, from the “Best Spokesperson” category and instead focusing on managers and heads of departments and divisions, to promote and stimulate creativity and innovation in the workplace. These recommendations reflect the award’s commitment to promoting excellence and innovation in communication practices.

The award has continuously provided models that contribute to overcoming the challenges faced by the world in various fields, including the economic, environmental, social, and health sectors.
